Jerry Fedele has more than 23 years of health care experience, including executive leadership, operations, quality and patient satisfaction improvement initiatives, physician recruitment and network development, clinical program development, strategic planning, insurance and law.

Mr. Fedele has experience in both academic and community hospital settings. Over the last 12 years he has focused on restructuring and improving financially challenged hospitals. Mr. Fedele is credited with saving a major academic hospital and three community hospital affiliates from the largest health care bankruptcy in US history through removing the hospitals from bankruptcy proceedings, restructuring debt and implementing a financial turnaround exceeding $140 million dollars.

Mr. Fedele received his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Master of Business Administration degrees with honors from the University of Pittsburgh and Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was class valedictorian.

Ms. Poole has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare operations and has held numerous hospital chief executive officer and division president positions. She has served as a healthcare advisor and led various facility improvement initiatives. Her expertise includes general hospital operations, managed care, team building, mentoring, strategic planning, clinical operations improvement, service line development, labor productivity, market share growth, profit improvement, and physician, medical staff and board development. Ms. Poole holds a master of arts in management and supervision with an emphasis in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor of science in nursing from West Virginia University. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Posternack’s professional career spans 25 years and includes primary care practice and faculty positions at McGill University. Since 1993, Dr. Posternack has held medical leadership positions in south Florida with the Cleveland Clinic Florida where he served as the Founder and Director of the Internal Medicine residency program, Chief of Medicine and Director of Clinical Operations, and Chairman of Medicine and Director of Clinical Operations. During his tenure with the Cleveland Clinic Florida, Dr. Posternack served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Ohio State University.

For the last eight years, Dr. Posternack has held the position of Chief Medical Officer at John F. Kennedy Medical Center and has assumed various other leadership positions including Founding Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency program. Dr. Posternack has held an appointment as Clinical Affiliate Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine and Florida Atlantic University, and Affiliate Associate Professor of Medicine with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Posternack attended McGill University in Montreal where he attained his bachelor of science in immunology and medical degrees. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Royal Victoria Hospital and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Montreal General Hospital, both affiliated with McGill University. Dr. Posternack is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

DAWN JAVERSACK, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Javersack served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Broward Health, a position she has held since 2008. She began her career with Arthur Anderson & Company and progressed through the ranks to experienced senior auditor. Subsequent to public accounting, Ms. Javersack held progressive financial leadership positions over a 19-year career with the Western Pennsylvania Hospital and the West Penn Allegheny Health System.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Javersack has gained significant experience serving as director of finance of a 500–bed community teaching hospital, chief financial officer for a major academic medical center and vice president for finance for a six-hospital health care system. She has substantial expertise in strategic and financial planning, treasury, budgeting, capital allocation, financial analysis and reporting, decision support, managed care contracting and revenue cycle management.

Ms. Javersack holds both bachelor of science in business administration with honors and masters of business administration degrees from West Virginia University. She is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Financial Leadership Council of the Healthcare Advisory Board

MELISSA DURBIN, MSN, RN, NEA-BC Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer

A seasoned professional with nearly thirty years in nursing practice and leadership, Melissa Durbin serves as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. In this capacity, she is responsible for all nursing and other patient –care functions and services within the organization. Ms. Durbin manages the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of nursing practices on a facility level. She is accountable for ensuring high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff and effective resource management.

Ms. Durbin joined Boca Regional in 2006 as Executive Director for the Lynn Heart and Vascular Institute and the Hospital’s Critical Care and Emergency Services. Prior to that post, she was Director of Trauma and Critical Care Services at Delray Medical Center.

Ms. Durbin received her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.

THOMAS CHAKURDA, Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Tom Chakurda joined Boca Raton Regional Hospital in July of 2009. In his capacity as Vice President of Marketing and Communications, He oversees all internal and external communications functions including advertising, media relations, print collateral, web development and employee/physician communications.

Since 1999, Mr Chakurda served as Vice President for Communications at West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS). West Penn Allegheny Healthy System is a $1.5 billion, integrated health system located in southwest Pennsylvania. The system provides adult and pediatric primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary clinical services for more than 81,000 inpatients and 870,000 outpatients per year. 

A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Chakurda received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1976 from the University of Pittsburgh. He served as Director of Media Relations for Presbyterian-University Hospital and then joined Ketchum Public Relations as a Senior Account Executive. In 1988, Mr. Chakurda joined Allegheny General Hospital and its parent organization as Assistant Vice President for Communications. In 1990, he was promoted to Vice President.

During his career, Mr. Chakurda and departments under his direction have earned over 150 awards and honors for excellence in communications. Included are: six Telly Awards, a Regional Emmy, five Addys, two gold and three platinum Marcom Awards and two American Hospital Association “Touchstone” Awards. In 1994, he was named Public Relations Professional of the Year by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and in 1997 was honored as Pittsburgh’s Bizmark Advertising Executive of the Year.

Mr. Chakurda has served on the board of directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, Leadership Pittsburgh and the National Kidney Foundation of the Alleghenies.  He is also a member of the Leadership Pennsylvania Class of 1992. Mr. Chakurda has also held seats on the board of directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Life’sWork of Western Pennsylvania and the Roberto Clemente Foundation.

C. DANIEL (DAN) SACCO, Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Payer Relations

Dan Sacco is the Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Payer Relations. In this capacity Mr. Sacco is responsible for supporting the Hospital’s strategic plan development, long range facility planning, ambulatory care initiatives, integrated- delivery system development, and the development of the corporate health management program and facilitation of health plan partnerships.

Prior to joining Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Mr. Sacco spent three years as the Senior Vice President for Strategy and Business Development for Central Florida Health Alliance a two-hospital health system serving the nationally known “The Villages” retirement community. Immediately prior to joining the Central Florida Health Alliance, he served for 20 years as Vice President for Planning and Payer Relations with the West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Throughout his career Mr. Sacco has served in various positions in hospital finance, strategic planning and business development.

Mr. Sacco received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Public Management from Carnegie-Mellon University and is a Healthcare Financial Management Association Folmer Award recipient.

He serves as a board member for the Gateway Health Network, a Federally Qualified Health Clinic, and as a member of the Lake County Florida School Board North Lake Long Range Facilities Planning Committee, and has been an academic preceptor for the University of Pittsburgh Health Administration Residency Program.

MINDY SHIKIAR, MBA, MSN, Vice President, Ambulatory Services and Business Development

Mindy Shikiar is the Vice President of Ambulatory Services and Business Development for Boca Raton Regional Hospital. She has been with Boca Regional since 2003 in various leadership positions. Her current responsibilities include oversight for the ambulatory services division, including the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute, Outpatient and Inpatient Imaging, Davis Therapy, which includes Pain Management, Wound Care, OP Rehab, and Diabetes Education, and Home Health. She works closely with leaders to ensure organizational goals are met to continue to expand Boca Regional’s outreach into the community. In the past two years her division celebrated the opening of the Harvey and Phyllis Sandler Pavilion, the expansion of women’s services to the north and south of the hospital and the opening of two new imaging centers. She is currently spearheading several projects including expansion of ambulatory services to include new locations for imaging services, International Patient Services and Corporate Health and Wellness services.

Prior to joining the hospital, Mindy served as CEO and COO of Kindred/Vencor Hospital, a long-term acute care facility for critically ill/medically complex patients in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to overall hospital operations, highlights of her Kindred tenure include expanding clinical services with a bariatric surgical program and outpatient plastic surgery, the development/implementation of a sleep laboratory, a hospital-based ethics committee and the redesign of utilization management and discharge planning processes.

Her 28-year healthcare career is comprised of numerous nursing industry positions including that of Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Director of Quality and Case Management and Adjunct Professor at Barry University in Miami.

Mindy is a licensed Healthcare Risk Manager, and a former diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. (ABQAURP). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston University and her MBA and MSN from University of Miami.

MINDY RAYMOND, Vice President of Human Resources

Mindy Raymond is vice president of Human Resources. In this role, she is responsible for the overall human resources function, including recruitment and retention, compensation, benefits, employee health, employee relations and work/life initiatives. Additionally, she provides executive oversight for the hospital’s Center for Lifelong Learning in the delivery of leadership and staff training and development.

Previously, Raymond was executive director of Organizational Development for Boca Raton Regional Hospital, focusing on leadership development and the establishment of structures, systems and processes within the organization to improve organizational effectiveness. She has been an employee at Boca Raton Regional Hospital for more than 30 years, including roles in Patient and Guest Relations, Administration and Human Resources.

Raymond earned her master’s in Healthcare Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Mathematics from Florida Southern College. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Society for Human Resource Management and the American Society for Training and Development.

FRANTZ PYTHON, President of BocaCare Inc.

Frantz Python has been in healthcare for over 20 years and has held various positions within that industry. From 1990 to 2005, he steadily climbed the corporate ladder from surgical technologist to staff accountant, financial analyst, evening administrator, and associate administrator at various healthcare organizations. In January 2006, Mr. Python transitioned from the hospital environment to the Medical Practice sector when he joined the Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County as CEO (Chief Executive Officer). During his tenure at the Orthopedic Center, Mr. Python, repositioned the company financially by restructuring its entire operations including efficient cash management, better manage care contracts, new sub specialties, new profitable ancillary services and more.

Mr. Python joined Boca Raton Regional Hospital Senior Executive Team In November 2009 as the President of BocaCare Inc., the Hospital’s newly formed Primary Care Physician Network.

Mr. Python earned an MBA with a concentration in International Business from Florida Atlantic University in 2001. While continuing to work in healthcare, he has also served as an adjunct professor at various local colleges teaching Business Principles, International Business, Accounting, Economics, and Finance. In addition, Mr. Python dedicates his extra time mentoring kids at local schools in the US and abroad.

Mr. Python currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce. He serves as an Advisory Board Member at FATEM (Foundation for the Technological and Economic Advancement of Mirebalais), a non for profit humanitarian organization in Massachusetts. He also serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the Dorsainvil Foundation, a humanitarian organization in Palm Beach County dedicated to providing healthcare services to the people of Haiti. In addition, he is also a member of the ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executive), MGMA (Medical Group Management Association) and AAOE (American Association of Orthopedic Executives).
