What to Expect
Many patients experience apprehension before a surgical procedure, because they are unsure of what to expect. In an attempt to ease some concern, we have provided a brief overview of what will happen before, during and after surgery.
Prior to your surgical appointment, your anesthesiologist will meet with you and evaluate your current medical condition in order to create an anesthetic plan tailored specifically to you and your individual needs.
State-of-the-art technology is used to monitor and regulate your body's functions throughout the entire procedure and your anesthesiologist will be there to adjust medications if needed. In some cases, nurse anesthetists assist the anesthesiologist, but it is the anesthesiologist who will be making all the medical decisions.
Upon completion of your surgical procedure, your anesthesiologist will reverse the effects of the anesthetic medications and return you to consciousness.
