Weight Management


Each woman is unique individual and your weight management program should be too. The Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute offers a 13-week program incorporating lifestyle changes for healthier living. All visits are with a licensed healthcare professional. The weight management program is priced at $249 – that is less than $3 a day. Medical clearance will be required before starting the program. Below is the course schedule; episodic visits are every two weeks.

Week 1 (45 minutes)

  • Name, age, DOB, allergies
  • Vital signs, weight, height, BMI, body fat analysis, waist circumference, 12 lead EKG
  • Medications
  • Current problems being treated by a physician
  • Review of systems
  • Past medical history
  • Past surgical history
  • Social history
  • Review labs and dexascan (if applicable) from primary care physician
  • Physical assessment complete with focus on cardiovascular and respiratory
  • Labs to obtain: TSH, CBC, CMP, lipids, vitamin D and/or dexascan (if appropriate for patient)
  • Education: Discuss healthy food choices, exercise schedule, realistic goals for weight loss 1-2 lbs/week. Discuss meaning of BMI and body fat percentage, importance of food journal and fall precautions.
  • Appropriate referral to specialty

Week 3 (15-30 minutes)

  • Vital signs, weight, waist circumference
  • Abbreviated physical assessment
  • Review labs with patient, order additional testing if necessary
  • Review food journal
  • Appropriate referrals
  • Discuss diet and portion sizes, sample diet given and water intake encouraged for appropriate patient.
  • Develop exercise plan tailored to patient. Encourage beginning exercise 2-3 times per week for approximately 10-15 minutes each session.

Week 5 (15-30 minutes)

  • Vital signs, weight, waist circumference
  • Assess general wellness
  • Abbreviated physical assessment
  • Exercise assessment
  • Review food journal
  • Discuss dietary changes
  • Education: Discuss calories, fat, sodium, dining out/plate and portion size handout.
  • Folder insert with resource website including restaurant guide to eating out
  • Continue with realistic goals of 1-2 lbs per week
  • Reward – pedometer
  • Exercise 3-4 timer per week; increasing the time to 15-30 minutes per session

Week 7 (15-30 minutes)

  • Vital signs, weight, waist circumference
  • Abbreviated physical assessment and general wellness
  • Review food journal
  • Discuss meal planning and appropriate food substitutes
  • Educational materials discussing benefits of weight loss and exercise
  • Continue with exercise increasing to 45 minutes 3-4 times per week

Week 9 (15-30 minutes)

  • Vital signs, weight, waist circumference
  • Abbreviated physical assessment and general wellness
  • Review food journal
  • Continue with diet and exercise plan; increasing physical activity to 45-60 minutes 3-4 times per week

Week 11 (45 minutes)

  • Vital signs, weight, waist circumference, BMI, body fat analysis
  • Abbreviated physical exam
  • Review food journal with recommendations
  • Continue with diet and exercise
  • Celebration
  • Final recommendations and Certificate of Completion
