support of patient care, education, quality management and research.
Library Resources
The Medical Library provides interlibrary loans, access to computer stations
and librarian-mediated database searches.
Books
There are over 100 scientific and biomedical books available in the Medical
Library, shelved according to the National Library of Medicine classification
system. These books are non-circulating.
Journals
The Medical Library currently subscribes to more than 30 hardcover journals
and over 50 full-text titles. Journal titles are reviewed annually to
ensure symmetry with the evolving needs of the Library and Hospital.
Interlibrary Loans
Books, journal articles, government publications and other items not owned
by the Medical Library may be borrowed or photocopied from other libraries.
Interlibrary loans (ILL) may be requested in person or email. There is
no charge for ILLs and requests generally take from a day to a week to
complete.
Pulling and Copying
Our staff members will pull and copy requested articles from MEDLINE®
searches or from a reading/reference list.
Computer Workstations
The Medical Library currently has 10 computer workstations and a printer.
These workstations are designed to provide access to the Internet, Boca
Raton Regional Hospital’s Intranet and other Hospital resources.
Instructions, Orientation and Mediated Database Searches
Instruction, orientation and mediated searching are available to Hospital
medical staff, as well as FAU residents and medical students. The librarian
can assist users with PubMed and other biomedical databases. Physicians
may request a password for online privileges to Ovid and EBSCO DynaMed™
