Lifesteps® Weight Management Program is a comprehensive behavior-based
program integrating current weight management research on nutrition, physical
activity and group support. The program consists of 12 weekly 60-minute
sessions led by a LifeSteps leader, registered dietitians and nurses with
extensive experience in training and wellness coaching.
The LifeSteps program provides tools for long-term weight management emphasizing
well-established strategies for successful behavior change. Program participants
receive special discounts for additional wellness services.
Program binder ($54 value), food logs and other materials are included
in this program fee.
A Matter of Balance
Do you have concerns about falling? Many older adults experience concerns about falling and as a result restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
YOU WILL LEARN TO:
- View falls as controllable
- Set goals for increasing activity
- Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
- Exercise to increase strength and balance

Chair Yoga Class
Yoga is for everyone! The Gloria Drummond Physical Rehabilitation Institute is proud to now offer Chair Yoga. This gentle form of yoga is practiced sitting on a chair or standing next to it for support. It is a great form of exercise for seniors or those living with health issues. Chair yoga can help participants achieve their physical and mental fitness goals.

EAT HEALTHY TO BE HEALTHY CLASS
This four session class is taught by a registered, licensed dietitian/nutritionist and certified diabetes educator. The class was developed to assist with your health goals and includes reducing your blood pressure, cholesterol or triglycerides and managing your blood glucose or weight if you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome. The class is designed for anyone who wants to be their healthiest and to understand the link between nutrition, stress management and health. You will receive a personalized meal planner, learn about healthy eating, reading food labels, stress management and dining out. Tools are provided for changing old behaviors and succeeding at your new health goals so you can be your best and healthiest.

TWO-HOUR DIABETES FOLLOW-UP CLASSES
For those with diabetes that have already attended any diabetes educational program, Medicare can provide coverage for additional learning skills. A two hour medical and nutritional review class including carb counting glucose monitoring pattern review along with the newest information on medications and healthier eating. All classes can help you better manage blood sugar levels.

CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING (CGMS)
Learn how to use the continuous real time glucose monitoring systems (recently approved by Medicare) versus a glucose meter. Participants will learn how to use this sesnor technology to see their blood sugars at any time.

INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL OR NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
A one-on-one one hour appointment either in-person or virtually with a
nutritionist and/or nurse diabetes educator. Physician referral is required
for insurance coverage.

Fee: Medicare covers Nutritional counseling only if you have diabetes or renal/kidney
disease. For private insurance, we will do the pre-authorization to check
coverage. If not covered, out of pocket fees will apply.

Insulin Usage Therapy
Cardiac Nutrition Class
This class includes five, one-and-a-half hour classes that are developed to help improve overall cardiovascular health. Topics include shopping, menu planning, dining out, stress management, vitamins, minerals and understanding the relationship between heart health and nutrition.

Guided Imagery
Guided imagery and meditation is a mind-body intervention that focuses on the imagination and the senses and has been shown to induce the “relaxation response,” which may help diminish anxiety, pain, nausea and fatigue to help enhance the healing process.
Mended Hearts Support Group
Comprised of heart patients, their families and others impacted by heart disease. Support group helps people understand that there can be a rich, rewarding life after Heart disease. Group is held on 3rd Tuesday of month from 1:00pm - 2:30pm in Gloria Drummond Physical Rehabilitation Institute classroom, 650 Glades Road, Boca Raton. Pelvic Pain Support Group
This lecture series and support group provided by the Barbara C. Gutin Center for Pelvic Health Is designed for individuals living with pelvic and abdominal pain and dysfunction. Meetings feature a guest speaker who will focus on helpful topics and allow for open discussion. The group meets on various Wednesdays from 6pm-7pm at Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute. Pulmonary Support
This class is offered quarterly, open to public and free of charge. The class addresses the Questions of: What is lymphedema? What are the signs and symptoms? Who is at risk? How is lymphedema diagnosed and treated? What can be done to try to prevent it? ... these questions as well as answering individual questions from audience. Call 561-955-6170 for more information.
This support group is open to individuals living with lung disease. Share experiences and ways to manage and cope with the challenges of living with a breathing problem. Guest speakers are provided when available. Group meets on 2nd Thursday of month from 12pm-1:30pm thru May and then every other month beginning September 2019.
